Apparently, there is a fix kit for the defects.
I just went to:
http://www.freddistribution.com/control/main
and asked them about it. They responded right away and there does not appear to be any additional charge for it. I didn't have to prove that I ordered the game, but it seems likely they were able to match my name up with an order.
