I made it back from WBC alive!   My last count was 33 games played (some of them long, like Through the Ages).

I saw Mark Mitchell several times but never ended up in a game with him.   Virginia and I played at least twice (I think she beat me both times, in RFTG and Transamerica).

I did bring home one plaque (4th in St. Petersburg), but I didn't go all out.   I even bowed out of a Tikal semi-final because I was more interested in sleep.   I'm also definitely out of practice.  In a few games I was exactly able to see where I made the error that took me out of contention.   I need to be sharper for next year!

I made it back alive too. And I saw Rob a f ew times too, but one of us was always deeply involved in something else to chit chat. This year's WBC proved to be a landmark event in my gaming life. I managed to win my first “wood” in the history of attending the WBC/AvalonCon since its beginning. YAYYYY ME! And I did it by winning the tournament that I was running as GM (Galaxy the Dark Ages). Who'd have thought it was that simple?:-)

The rest of the con consisted of several unimpressive performances in Atlantic Storm, Formula Motor Racing, Imperial, Ingenious, Can't Stop, and almost pulling off winning my heat of McGartlin Stock Car Racing. I was in first place with 9 laps to go, a gap behind me and no pass cards in my hand. The last 9 laps took TWO turns to complete and I ended up in 4th place and didn't qualify for the final. But that's okay. The final conflicted with the premiere event Slapshot anyway.
